Jules van Hessen
Jules van Hessen is a flamboyant, talented conductor. In 1984 he completed his conducting studies at the Royal Conservatoire with Pierre Stoll and Louis Stotijn with a concert with the Residentie Orkest. He attended masterclasses with Jean Fournet, Edward Downes and Gennadi Roshdjestvensky, among others. Since then he has won several prizes at international conducting competitions and has been invited by orchestras at home and abroad, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Residentie Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra. Jules van Hessen now gives masterclasses himself and is a member of the jury at several conducting competitions.
Jules van Hessen has worked with major symphony orchestras and opera houses in Italy, France, Denmark, Belgium, England (BBC Philharmonic), Germany, Austria, USA, China, Middle East, Israel and Mexico. He has also worked with celebrities such as Frank Peter Zimmerman, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Pepe Romero, Nelson Freire, Giora Feidman, Lisa Ferschtman and Nino Gvetadze. Many performances have been recorded. He was also involved in the Festival Classique in The Hague and between 2008 and 2014 with the Magogo Chamber Orchestra.
